Terms and
conditions
The rules for the rental and the guided expeditions, written to be understood before you sign anything. What isn't settled yet is marked as such: we'd rather say so than invent a figure.
Last updated: October 9, 2026
In one line
You rent a motorcycle that's been prepared, you return it the way it left, and whatever you break or use up is on you.
Everything else on this page is the detail of those three things.
Who provides the service
CRA Rider Experience is the trading name of CRA Racing S.A.S., tax ID 30-71918171-2, registered at Coronel Moldes 271, B° Campo Caseros, Salta, Argentina.
These terms cover the two things we do: motorcycle rental and guided expeditions. What you sign at our base is the rental contract, and it prevails over this page if anything differs.
Booking, paying the deposit or riding away on one of our motorcycles means you've read this and agree to it.
Who can rent
Four things, the same ones listed on the rentals page:
- Being of legal age. There's no upper age limit.
- A valid driver's license for the motorcycle's engine size. An international permit helps if you're from abroad, but the one that counts is your own country's.
- A national ID or passport, which is what you sign with.
- A card in your name for the security deposit.
If you're coming from abroad we also ask for travel insurance or medical coverage. It isn't a formality: in the Puna the nearest health centre can be two hours away.
You can add a second rider at no extra cost. Both of you must show ID and a licence, and be named in the contract as authorised riders. Only those named there may ride.
Booking, prices and payment
A booking is confirmed with a 20% deposit of the rental value. Once it clears, the motorcycle is held for your dates and we don't offer it to anyone else.
The deposit is paid by bank transfer. The remaining 80% is paid when you sign the contract and take the motorcycle with its paperwork.
The balance is paid in cash, in US dollars or the peso equivalent at the exchange rate we agree. If you would rather pay by transfer or card, a surcharge of 10% on that balance applies, to cover the tax costs.
The prices published on the site are per motorcycle, in US dollars, and are retail prices. The daily rate drops the longer the trip. The one that counts is the one we confirm to you in writing for your dates: the one on the site is a reference and can change.
Cancellations and changes
- You give 7 days’ notice or more: the deposit stays in your favour to reschedule the trip, subject to availability in our calendar.
- You give less than 7 days’ notice: the deposit is lost.
- We cancel: we refund everything you have paid.
Days are counted up to the motorcycle handover date, or the expedition departure date.
The security deposit
A security deposit is held per motorcycle, fully refundable when the rental ends. It's held on a card in your name and is only charged if there's damage, something missing or a fine.
They are US$500 per motorcycle for trips within Argentina, and US$800 per motorcycle if the trip leaves the country.
It's released when we go over the motorcycle with you at drop-off. If something turns up, we show it to you before deducting anything.
Pickup and drop-off
You pick where and when: at our base on Coronel Moldes 271, at your hotel or at Salta airport. Airport delivery is included. There are no counter hours.
The motorcycle leaves checked over in our own workshop. At handover we look at it together and its condition is recorded.
It comes back in the same condition and with the same fuel level it left with. If you bring it back with less, it's deducted from the deposit.
There is a 2-hour grace period on the agreed time. After those two hours we charge half a day extra of rental. If you are running late, tell us: almost everything is settled with a message in time.
What's included and what isn't
Included
- Unlimited mileage.
- Third-party liability insurance.
- Helmet and gloves.
- 24/7 phone support for the whole trip.
- A roadbook and advice on whichever route you choose.
- Pickup and drop-off at our base, at your hotel or at the airport.
On you
- Fuel.
- Tolls, meals and lodging.
- Fines and the administrative costs they cause.
- Your riding gear, beyond the helmet and gloves.
- Jackets, panniers and premium gear, which are added separately and subject to availability.
How the motorcycle is used
These are northern roads, not a racetrack. What we ask is what anyone who knows them would do:
- Helmet on at all times, and obey traffic law.
- No alcohol or substances that affect your riding.
- Don't lend it, don't sublet it and don't use it to carry paying passengers or freight.
- Don't use it in competition, speed trials or riding schools.
- Don't cross into another country without telling us: the insurance doesn't cover you outside Argentina.
If the motorcycle is used outside these terms, the insurance doesn't respond and the damage is on you.
Damage, insurance and fines
The insurance does not cover the motorcycle you rent. Every motorcycle carries third-party liability insurance: it covers damage you may cause to someone else, and it is what allows you to ride on the road. Damage to the motorcycle itself is not covered.
If the motorcycle is damaged, the full cost of the repair is yours. The security deposit is applied to it, and if the repair costs more than the deposit, you pay the difference: the deposit is not a cap on your liability.
We write it this plainly because it is the hardest condition to read after a crash. Normal wear from a trip is not damage: we mean knocks, breakages and missing parts, and we go over it together at drop-off.
The full terms, with what the policy covers and what it does not, are in the rental contract.
Fines belong to whoever was riding. If they reach us later, we pass them on with the paperwork.
If something happens on the road, we deal with it: there's 24-hour support and, on expeditions, a support vehicle. Tell us first, before anyone else.
Guided expeditions
Guided departures have fixed dates and limited spots, and are booked like a rental: once the deposit clears, your place is held.
You can come on your own motorcycle or ride one of ours. Either way the service is the same: a guide up front, a support vehicle behind and the logistics handled.
The minimum for a departure to be confirmed is 5 motorcycles. If it isn't reached, we tell you in good time and either refund everything or move you to another date, whichever you prefer.
The route can change. The weather and the state of the road decide, above all at altitude: crossing a pass is decided the day before and sometimes that same morning. Changing the route for safety isn't a breach, it's the guide's job.
The guide can ask someone not to continue if they're putting the group or themselves at risk. It's the one decision that isn't argued on the road.
Photos and video
On expeditions we take photos and film, and we use them to show what the trips are like: on this site, on social media and in the material for agencies.
If you'd rather not appear, tell us at the start of the departure and that's that. And if you already have and want a photo taken down, write to us and we'll take it down.
Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by Argentine law. If you're contracting as a consumer, you're also protected by Consumer Protection Act 24.240, and nothing on this page can cut those rights back: if any clause contradicts them, it doesn't apply.
You can complain to the consumer protection authority in your jurisdiction, or through Argentina's Ventanilla Única Federal, without going through us first. We'd still rather you wrote to us first: almost everything is settled in one message.
The jurisdiction for anything not settled that way is pending legal review.
When something on this page changes, the date in the header changes. The version in force is always the one you're reading, and the one that applies to you is the one published on the day you booked.
Something doesn't add up
Ask before you book, not after. If anything on this page isn't clear, write to us and we'll explain it in plain words.
